Medium mattresses. The next category of futon mattresses are characterized as medium in softness. These range from those on the softer side to those on the firmer side. The medium soft mattresses have extra foam like the soft mattresses, but has a bit more polyester to make it slightly firmer than a soft mattress. Good examples of these include the Saturn Futon Mattress, the Haley 90, and the Aries Futon Mattress. The next level up is what are characterized as medium. These include the Phoenix, the Mercury and the Pulsar mattress. Usually, these have layers of foam, but the top layer is a polyester layer making it a bit more firm. This means the mattress wont sink down a lot when you sit on it, but will still be bouncy when lying down. There is more support from these, but the mattresses are not firm. Finally, in the medium category, you have the medium firm mattress. These include the Simmons Monarch, the Galaxy Interspring, and the Cotton Coil mattresses. A lot of times, these mattresses will have an inner spring, similar to a regular bed mattress allowing the mattress to be more firm. The coils are usually surrounded by foam making these mattresses comfortable, but still firm. When the mattress does not have springs, the inner core is a lot thicker, making the mattress less plush and more firm. These medium firm mattresses are usually recommended by doctors since they are firm enough to give you more back support, but still soft enough for your body to merge into.
Mattresses for Overweight People. For those who prefer foam mattresses and are overweight consider the latex mattress or the visco elastic mattress. Because these mattresses have no springs there are no painful pressure points exacerbated by the extra weight. In addition overweight people tend to wear out spring mattresses faster than foam mattresses. When buying a foam mattress select a high-density style, as it will last quite a bit longer. Another good option for overweight people is an air mattress. Once again there are no pressure points causing pain. The firmness is easily adjusted by adding or releasing air. If an overweight person must purchase a spring mattress try to get an inner coil mattress. Their construction is perfectly suited to heavier individuals. A futon mattress is very similar to a regular bed mattress. When shopping for one, consider how firm you want the mattress to be. Hard Vs Soft Mattress. Mattresses come in a wide range of solidity. From the ultra soft to the extremely hard, it is more a matter of preference than necessity. However, there are some basic truths that hold for the majority of us. Very soft cloud-like mattresses can wreak havoc on bad backs. This is because there is very little support in a soft mattress. While hard mattresses might be better for a bad back, very hard mattresses can cause just as much trouble. It all boils down to what works best for each individual.
A lot of us have tried or are probably still using spring mattresses. We could say that sleeping on spring beds or mattresses is comfortable until we got stung by a broken spring. Spring mattresses have been the standard for many decades but the memory foam mattresses have become even more popular to date because of the undeniable comfort as well as the overall body support that many would not believe until they have tried these out for themselves. So why do more people choose memory mattresses over the standard spring mattresses? There have been comparisons made between memory foam mattresses and spring mattresses and a lot of people could attest that they found sleeping on memory foam mattresses to be better. Lying on a spring mattress does feel nice but when it comes to body contouring as well as spinal support a spring mattress do not even comes close to what the memory foam mattress could give. When you use a spring mattress, your body conforms to it. While your weight is on the spring mattress, the springs exert a resisting force against your body. A spring mattress relies only on a varied number of springs that are pushing back against you with all of them having the same force. Since your body does not push evenly against those springs, it is impossible for you to get proper support. And because of this and the fact that you are the one who is adjusting to the spring mattresss shape, your pressure points will lead to poor blood circulation and you would probably be complaining about body pains or sore muscles or stiffness when you wake up in the morning.
